This Privacy Policy explains how MatchVeda ("we", "us", or "our"), operating at matchveda.com and related applications, collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal data when you use our Indian matrimony and matchmaking services. We are committed to handling your information responsibl
For personal data processed through MatchVeda, we act as a Data Fiduciary — the entity that determines the purpose and means of processing your digital personal data. You, the member or registrant, are the Data Principal — the individual to whom the personal data relates and whose consent or legitimate use grounds our processing, as described in this policy.
This policy applies to visitors, registrants, and members who use MatchVeda websites, mobile experiences, and related services in India. MatchVeda is intended only for adults seeking matrimonial alliances. Members must be at least 18 years of age (21 for male profiles) and legally eligible to marry under applicable laws. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you register on behalf of a family member, you confirm that you have lawful authority to provide their information and that they meet our eligibility requirements.
We collect only the personal data reasonably necessary to operate a matrimony platform. Categories include: (a) Identity and account data — name, email address, mobile number, password (stored in hashed form), gender, date of birth, and profile-created-for relationship; (b) Matrimonial profile data — religion, community, caste, mother tongue, education, occupation, income range, height, marital status, employment type, family type, location (country, state, city/town), about-me text, and partner preferences; (c) Photos and verification data — profile photos, verification selfies or identity documents submitted for review, and moderation outcomes; (d) Platform activity data — interest requests, connections, messages, shortlists, profile visits, online status (if enabled), and last-active timestamps; (e) Technical and security data — IP address, browser or device user-agent, login timestamps, session identifiers, OTP and authentication records, and limited referral or registration metadata; (f) Communications with us — support emails, grievance requests, and feedback you send to our team.
We collect personal data when you register, complete your profile, upload photos, submit verification material, adjust privacy settings, express interest, message other members, contact support, or otherwise interact with MatchVeda. We may also collect limited technical data automatically through cookies, session tokens, and server logs needed to keep the service secure and functional.
We process your personal data for the following specific purposes: creating and managing your account; displaying your matrimonial profile to relevant members according to your privacy settings; generating AI-assisted match recommendations; enabling mutual-interest introductions and in-platform messaging; verifying identity and reducing fake profiles through automated and manual review; sending service emails such as OTPs, verification updates, and security alerts; improving platform safety, performance, and member experience; complying with legal obligations; and responding to your requests, complaints, or grievances.
Where required under the DPDP Act, we process your personal data based on your free, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent provided at registration and when you submit additional profile or verification information. By creating an account, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use. Certain limited processing may also rely on permitted grounds under applicable law, such as processing necessary to provide the service you requested or to comply with legal requirements. You may withdraw consent for optional processing where withdrawal does not affect processing required to fulfil a legal obligation or core service you continue to use; withdrawal of consent for essential account functions may require account closure.
Before or at the time we collect personal data, we provide this notice describing what we collect, why we collect it, and how you may exercise your rights. Registration screens reference these policies, and consent metadata (including policy version and acceptance time) is recorded with your account.
MatchVeda uses automated tools, including AI-assisted checks, to review verification photos, moderate uploaded profile images, and suggest compatible matches. Automated processing supports — but does not replace — human review where needed. Match suggestions are recommendations only; members and families make their own decisions. We do not use your data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate transparency.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers or data brokers. Personal data is shared only as follows: (a) with other members according to your visibility settings and mutual-interest rules; (b) with service providers (Data Processors) who process data on our behalf under contract, such as hosting providers, email delivery services, and security infrastructure, solely to operate MatchVeda; (c) with authorised MatchVeda staff or reviewers for verification, moderation, fraud prevention, and support; (d) when required by law, court order, or lawful request by a government authority; or (e) to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of MatchVeda, our members, or the public. Processors are required to implement appropriate safeguards and process data only on our instructions.
Your data is primarily processed and stored in India. If we or our service providers transfer personal data outside India, we do so only where permitted under the DPDP Act and applicable government notifications, and we take reasonable steps to ensure that recipients provide protections comparable to those required under Indian law.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Active account data is retained while your account remains open and for a reasonable period thereafter to handle disputes, security investigations, or legal compliance. Verification media may be retained for identity and fraud-prevention purposes. Messages, connection history, and activity logs are retained while your account is active and for a limited period after closure where needed for safety or legal reasons. Consent and policy acceptance records may be retained to demonstrate compliance. When data is no longer required, we delete, anonymise, or securely archive it in accordance with our retention practices.
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction. These measures include access controls, encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed password storage, authenticated sessions, verification workflows, and restricted internal access on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep your login credentials confidential.
You can manage visibility of your profile, phone number, email, photos, income, and online status from Settings → Privacy. Options include showing details only to members whose interest you accept, connected members, premium members, or hiding them entirely. You may also control whether your profile appears in search results. These controls help you decide how much information is visible during your matrimony search.
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights as a Data Principal: (a) Right to access information about personal data we process about you; (b) Right to correction, completion, updating, and erasure of inaccurate or outdated personal data; (c) Right to grievance redressal through our published contact channel; (d) Right to nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity; (e) Right to withdraw consent for processing that is based on consent, using a process as easy as giving consent. You may request account erasure from Settings → Request account deletion; approved requests are processed within 30 days. Other data rights requests may be emailed to support@matchveda.in from your registered email address with enough detail for us to verify your identity. We may request additional information to prevent unauthorised access to your data.
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, contact our grievance channel at support@matchveda.in with the subject line "Privacy Grievance". Please include your registered email, a description of the issue, and any relevant dates. We will acknowledge your complaint and endeavour to resolve grievances within 90 days, as required under the DPDP Rules. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to approach the Data Protection Board of India in accordance with applicable law.
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to affect you, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected Data Principals and comply with reporting obligations under the DPDP Act and DPDP Rules, including notifying the Data Protection Board of India where required.

Where changes are material, we will provide additional notice through the platform or by email where appropriate.
